On the airport
At half past 12 I went to the meeting point at arrivals and gave Woodgate Charter Services a call. Some time later  car arrived and picked me up. Great experience to see an airport from within. Passing all kinds of fences, checks and we were driving on the airport! Of course there was a securiy check in a small building. After that right to Woodgates office, which looks like a nice, comforable pilots home with a lot of wood. lt was weautiful weather with sun and some clouds.

Meeting fellow passenger and Polly
There I met my fellow passenger who was also flying for the first time. She was a disabled person who had the time of her live now. After a while Polly came in. What charming woman, what a charisma. She was able to give all the people attention. I showed her the EasyBook and JeppView and soon we had Belfast Aldergrove and Belfast City charts with the landingzones and landingstrips on teh tablet pc. Polly was very enthusiastic about the tablet pc and the charts. Some later she showed it to our fellow passenger.
Of course I could film Polly working with the tablet and took some photos. Then we went to the plane.

 Flying!!
Wow man what a small plane this was. Great that I am a small person now. I had the backseat and had to put on a headphone with a mike. After a lot of checks by Polly of her plane we took off. Phew we were flying. What view we had of the surroundings. It was really great. Polly explained all the details of taxiing and the dashboard and things. We were really very excited.Every now and then we had a bump when there was a cloud or a mountain. We were laughing like children.
Meanwhile Polly used the tablet pc even in the plane, looking up details of the landingzone. That was great. I was able to put it on video. I filmed the whole flight!
It was really great to see all these lakes, mountains and little villages. And what a great view of Belfast we had when entering the landing zone! Beautiful. Polly flew some more to showus the surroundings and she was talking and laughing. She was very enthusiastic as we all were.

Save landing
Of course we were awaiting for the landing,would this give a bump, would we get sick? And you know, it was very very comfortable landing. Very smooth, we did not hardly felt it. Great!
Time for some official paperwork, handshaking and kissing and of course some photos.

Ok, packing my lugage now and flying back to the Netherlands

Polly Vacher
Polly Vacher (famous record breaking pilot) will take a disabled person on each sector wherever possible. Polly is well-known from Wings around the World Challenge, first woman to fly solo over the North Pole in a single engine aircraft, first woman to fly solo in Antarctica in a single engine aircraft, first person to fly solo around the world landing on all seven continents, 60,000 nautical miles, 357 days,

The aims of the project
The aims are: To promote “Flying Scholarships for the Disabled” and Flying for the disabled in general. Also to promote sales of the book “Wings Around the World” the proceeds from which go to “Flying Scholarships for the Disabled”.

What is Flying Scholarships for the Disabled?
Flying Scholarships for the Disabled (FSD) is a scheme whereby, through the mental and physical challenges of learning to fly a light aircraft, disabled people can rebuild their confidence so enabling them to restore their self-esteem. This in turn empowers them to explore their potential by extending their personal mental and physical boundaries. Each scholarship student completes a 6-week residential course of training, which includes ground school and up to 40 hours of dual and solo flying. This is provided at no cost to the student and currently flight training takes place at flight schools in the USA and South Africa. Videoblogging from the aircraft
Well and I am proud to be part of such a flight! I will fly with Polly on Wednesday in Belfast. Wew, should be great to shoot a video then for this weblog. Thank you so much Polly for taking me with you on this great trip.
And you know, an EasyBook tablet pc of PaceBlade on board is used as navigation tool! With JeppView of Jeppesen. Great case. I hope I can make photos and a video of the tablet pc in the aircraft. Not much room in such a plane I think.  
Hmmm, and do I get sick?  Well, let’s hope I am able to shoot the video. Belfast here I come!

Update (later toegevoegd): Disclosure: ik werk bij Tulip Computers en PaceBlade is er onderdeel van.

Wat waren onze doelstellingen?
– laten zien dat Tulip bloggen en bloggers serieus neemt
– door in te spelen op het idee vanuit de community om bloggers met een tablet pc te laten werken, laten zien dat we naar de blogosphere ‘luisteren’
– mensen ervaring op laten doen in het werken met een tablet pc en daarover van gedachten wisselen
– het netwerk van Hans on Experience koppelen aan het netwerk van Tulip
– Tulip kennis laten maken met mensen uit mijn netwerk
– enkele gasten de gelegenheid geven de CeBIT te kunnen bezoeken
– ervaring opdoen in het inzetten van nieuwe media tijdens een beurs

Conclusies:
– de bloggers waren enthousiast over de actie, de stand, de ontvangst en de gesprekken
– door het werken met een tablet werd duidelijk wat een tablet pc voor functionaliteiten heeft
– de terugkoppeling van de ervaringen in het werken met de tablet pc’s was zinvol
– ondanks het feit dat we geen verzoek hebben neergelegd om te bloggen is er veel en positief geblogd over de CeBIT, het bezoek en de producten waardoor we in de online CeBIT context meeliepen
– de directie van Tulip was onder de indruk van de snelheid en kwaliteit waarmee blogpostings online kwamen (met foto’s en links) en hoe de conversatie verder werd gevoerd op de diverse blogs
– door de actie is binnen Tulip bij een aantal mensen het besef toegenomen dat bloggen een krachtig communicatiemiddel is
– voor CeBIT 2008 gaan we de actie uitbreiden
– we gaan het bloggen meer inzetten om mensen kennis te laten maken met tablet pc’s
– het werken met het online keyboard of los bluetooth keyboard al wandelend over de beurs gaat niet handig. Het was beter geweest om de EasyBook met handschriftherkenning te laten gebruiken.
– de awareness binnen Tulip met betrekking tot nieuwe media is toegenomen

Als ik zelf zo terug kijk op de CeBIT en deze actie dan kan ik zeggen dat ik er een voldaan gevoel aan over heb gehouden. We hadden hele interessante gesprekken in de avond voorafgaand aan de beursdag en heb een aantal bloggers weer beter leren kennen. Het waren vermoeiende dagen maar voor herhaling vatbaar. Wat ik voor mezelf het belangrijkste vindt is dat ik de gelegenheid heb gehad om iets met bloggen te doen in een corporate setting. Kortom: een brug(je) slaan tussen Tulip als bedrijf en blogge(n)rs. En dat is gelukt vind ik.
