]]> In mei kom er een reunie van medewerkers van Tulip Computers van voor 1995. Op zich natuurlijk al hartstikke leuk. Ik heb gelijk aangemeld. En ik ben niet de enige! Er zijn al meer dan 180 mensen die gaan komen. Prachtig!

Maar nou zijn er ook een aantal mensen die in het buitenland wonen (India, Nieuw Zeeland, China, Amerika) en werken of dan juist op zaken reis naar het buitenland. Nu wil de organisatie die mensen toch bij de reunie betrekken door een live verbinding te maken voor die avond. En als het kan twee richtingen op. Waarschijnlijk zijn er best wel programma’s in het Web 2.0 spectrum die dat aan kunnen. Ik heb zelf wel eens met een paar mensen tegelijkertijd in Ustream.tv gewerkt. Maar misschien zijn er nu andere, betere toepassingen voor. En misschien wil je die aan me doorgeven, door hieronder een reactie te plaatsen. Mailen mag natuurlijk ook (let op dat je het woordje punt en at dan weg laat).

Dus: wie kent een gratis toepassing voor een live videoverbinding (twee richtingen op) via het internet !

Ik ben benieuwd naar jullie reacties.

Tonight we had a great experiment with ustream. We did a conference with three persons. Betsy Weber from TechSmith (Camtasia Studio) in the US and Pierre Gorissen and I.
After some difficulties (ustream has no documentation) how to set up a conference, we managed to get together in one conference room in ustream. With a chatbox, video and audio.
Besty and Pierre also saw some other guy coming in (a still image?). Strange, because you just can join a conference by invitation and you must be on the friendslist. And the strange thing was. I did not see the guy.
We had some chit-chat and geeky talk and experiments. Betsy showed her desktop and move my videoscreen around smile_regular. You can see the conference in this short screencast. Just a rough cut. Now audio from us, because that was used by the conference (I think). But with music. Watch us geeking.

]]> This is great. Now I am able to use my Sony digital video camera as webcam for livestreaming to ustream.tv. Some days ago I could not work with it because ustream did not recognize it as webcam. But because I have installed webcam max I can use. Webcam max detects the camera as a Microsft DV camera and VCR. To make this possible I had to do change some settings because my camera is a high definition camera which has a HD output via i-Link.
These are the steps you have to do to let it work as DV camera and webcam:

– switch it to DV output
– set the i-link conversion from hdv to dv (conv-hdc->dv) in play/edit mode

Back in tape mode the camera will be recognized as webcam. Thanks for the tip Eugene.

]]> Wew cool this Twitter and ustream mashup. I was able to mashup my Twitter tweet on my live streaming video in ustream. If I am live you can see it in this posting or my ustream channel. For this mashup I installed a php script and an image on my server. This script pulls the last twitter tweet and saves it as an image.
After that I installed RoboTask which pulls the image from the server to my hard disk.
Finally I installed Webcam Max which pulls the image from my hard disk and shows it as an effect. You can see it on this picture at the bottom of the video. So this text is my last tweet.
