Ik heb een nieuwe optie bij je reactie, nl. je foto. Kijk maar eens bij deze posting. Ik vind dit mooi, omdat het wat persoonlijker over komt. Je kunt deze optie ‘aanzetten’ in je profiel bij MyBlogLog.
Degene die geen account daar hebben krijg je niet te zien. Ik ben ook nog aan het kijken naar gravatar.

Waar komen jullie vandaan?

Ik had al een tooltje maarmee ik lezers kon laten zien wat andere lezers nog meer lezen. Dat is het lijstje dat je rechts ziet als feeds4all lijstje. Dat zijn dus links van mensen die ook feed4all gebruiken en waar veel op geklikt wordt. Ook kon je al de mybloglog-mensen zien. Dus mensen die ook een MyBlogLog accountje hebben. Met MyBlogLog kun je de clicks van je lezers zien. De mensen die een dergelijk accountje hebben en die dan mijn weblog bezoeken zie je met een fotootje ook rechts. Ook weer aanklikbaar om eens te kijken wie ze zijn.
Maar nu heb ik ook iets gevonden waarmee ik kan laten zien waar je vandaan komt. Dus van welke website kom je hier terecht. Dat lijstje vind je ook rechts en er staat onder eRefferers. Dat lijstje geeft dus de links weer waar een lezer het laatst is geweest. Je kunt dat weer aanklikken, waardoor je dus naar de betreffende website of weblog gaat.

Readers uit MyBlogLog community te zien

Communities
Ik vind bloggen e.d. een vorm van bezig zijn met communities. Daarom wil ik eigenlijk zoveel mogelijk van die community laten zien. Dat is lastig, in die zin dat je al gauw een kerstboom aan dingetjes links en rechts hebt staan. Dat doet weer afbruik aan het KISS principe. Maar toch drijft me iets steeds de kant uit om zoveel mogelijk van andere mensen te laten zien. Van mijn netwerkjes. Zwermen noem ik het altijd. Zwermen die ontstaan rondom een thema, interesse of tool.

MyBlogLog community
Zo is er ook een zwermpje MyBlogLog mensen. Dat zijn mensen die MyBlogLog gebruiken om te zien hoe lezers binnen komen, wat ze lezen en hoe ze weer weggaan (door op een link te klikken). Een heel interessante tool vind ik.
Welnu, die mensen die die tool gebruiken kunnen weer zwermpjes bouwen. Elkaar uitnodigen. Omdat ze (door middel van een fotootje) zien wie hun pagina bezocht heeft. Ik vind dat handig. Daarom heb ik aan de rechterkant die mensen die op mijn weblog zijn geweest en deel uit maken van de MyBlogLog community (ze hebben daar dus een (gratis) accountje) te laten zien. Door op een foto te klikken ga je naar hun pagina. Dan kun je dus zien van welke groepen ze deel uit maken, welke blogs ze hebben, welke contacten en een klein stukje van hun profiel.

Wat vind jij ervan?
Vind je zo’n lijstje met foto’s handig of juist niet? Zou je het er weer onmiddellijk afgooien of juist ook toe willen passen. Of vind je het maar gefreubel. Laat het me weten als je daar zin in hebt.

MyBlogLog Stats problem solved

This posting will be in enlgish, becasue there might be people in search for a solution for this problem with not being able to see their mybloglog stats.

The problem
Some month ago I discovered that I was not being able to see the stats of mybloglog account. I could log in (but this screen was already messed up), but after loging in I did not see anything. I reported the problem to mybloglog, but they were not able to solve it. I looked into my Norton Internet Security, Firefox settings a.s.o. Nothing was there what might be the reason for this problem.

The HOSTS file
Today I solved it. The problem was that mybloglog is on the host file list which I use. For more security I use the Host Secure app. HOSTS Secure replaces your default HOSTS file with the one from http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm, so it contains entries that protect you from various parasites.

What the HOSTS file does
The Hosts file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. This file is loaded into memory (cache) at startup, then Windows checks the Hosts file before it queries any DNS servers, which enables it to override addresses in the DNS. This prevents access to the listed sites by redirecting any connection attempts back to the local machine. Another feature of the HOSTS file is its ability to block other applications from connecting to the Internet, providing the entry exists.
So in that text file some statcounters are also banned. For example Statcounter and Sitemeter are blocked. I solved this by putting # in front of that particular line.
But I did not check if mybloglog tracking was also part of this textfile. Till today. And it is part of it. These two lines are in the textfile and so mybloglog is blocked and banned:

127.0.0.1 track.mybloglog.com
127.0.0.1 www.mybloglog.com

The solution
So place a # before these lines and you can see your stats.

Clicktagging

Just implemented a new feature: clicktagging. Just for testing. With ClickTagging, I can automatically share the popularity
of each link on my blog with you. I added a new line of javascript. A small tooltip will appear whenever you puts your cursor over one of
my links, telling you how many times it has been clicked in the last 24
hours. With this geautre you will get some information what others readers find worthy to read. It is a feature from MyBlogLog. I will see how it works. If you have comments on it please let me know.

Sommigen van ons hebben terecht de vraag gesteld of het gebruik van een script voor MyBlogLog waarmee je uitgaande kliks kunt tracen wel veilig is. Ik stelde Eric van MyBlogLog daar een vraag over. Dit is zijn antwoord:
“Hans –
I understand your concern. With a script like this it is possible for a third party to do mess with content on your site. However, if we were to try something like that, all you would need to do is remove the javascript and everything would go back to normal.
More importantly, if we tried something like that, bloggers would post and everyone would know about it 12 seconds and everyone would cancel their service and we would go out of business.
As we say on our site, our goal is to make this easy on our members as possible. We are already working on several new features, like tracking which pages the clicks come from. If we dont host the javascript, we would have to continually ask our members to update their code. This is the opposite os easy 🙂
In the end it takes a measure of trust, and it’s okay if some people choose not to trust. We just want to do the greatest good for the most people we can.
This is a complex issue but I hope this gives you some understanding of why we’re hosting the code.

Mini-interview MyBlogLog

Darren Rowse van ProBlogger heeft MyBlogLog enkele vragen gesteld. MyBLogLog is een aardige tool waarmee je de uitgaande links kunt tracken.
ProBlogger – Do you track clicks that come from links that are images?
MyBlogLog – We do track image links.
ProBlogger – Are you able to track Google Adsense links?
MyBlogLog – We do not yet track Google Adsense, but we’re working on it.
ProBlogger – Do you have plans to (or the current ability to) track which pages on a blog the clicks are coming from?
MyBlogLog – Tracking which pages the clicks are coming from is definitely in the works. It’s a bigger challenge than just tracking the links, so we didn’t want to hold up the launch for that feature.
ProBlogger – Do you have an affiliate program or some way of paying a commission to bloggers that refer paying customers to you?
MyBlogLog – We will be setting up an affiliate program soon. We didn’t expect this level of enthusiasm so quickly, so a lot of things are coming to a head sooner than expected. So much for a “soft” launch!

Track Outbound links

Via Problogger kwam ik uit bij een handige tool: My BlogLog. Deze tool houdt bij op welke link bezoekers klikken als ze van je weblog af gaan. Daarmee kun je dus zien of bepaalde links gebruikt worden, welke links populair zijn en of je advies om te klikken opgevolgd wordt. Je kunt je gratis abonneren. Na 7 dagen kom je in een gestripte versie. Ik heb me ingeschreven en wil dit wel eens bekijken.
